Hats off To Ya…

Yay, today was a very productive day! I had a morning workout dance party, lunch with my beau, I planted some seedlings in the backyard, worked on a photography project, and finished my DIY hat collection. Pheeeewwwy… I’m pooped from my busy day!

I’m not sure if any of you are aware, but I have a serious obsession for hats. Ever since I can remember I have loved them…It’s just my thing. You know what I’m talking about, we all have that one “thing” we love. Whether it be shoes, bags, etc, etc… Well, hats are definitely my thing…and will probably always be. Case in point, I have acquired quite a collection, and I’ve been trying to find a way to show them off. I know I know, believe me I wear them… All of them. But they are just so beautiful not to showcase.

Cruising through blogs I found a very simple and fun DIY project. Listed below is what you will need…it’s an extremely long list so get your pen and paper ready.

Strong double-sided tape.

Laundry Clips. I used clips from an Ikea photo holder.

Did I trick you? I tend to do that. (Ha…I actually never do that.)

Tape the backside of the clip and place on the wall. Clip your hats and Viola…Magic that looks something like this:

(This is just a 1/4 of them, I’m currently working on the other half of my wall now.)

(Hooray for Hats!)

(The hat with the feathers was my Mom’s, which makes it all the more special)

(Niko likes to pretend he’s helping…)

So what’s your “one thing” ? And do you like to showcase it in a creative way? Hopefully I’ve inspired you to partake in a DIY project, because obviously some of them are quite simple, and can be really quite fun! Any plans for the weekend? I have a list of things I would like to do. I think a good starting point is a night of dancing with the girls! I got my dancing shoes on, let’s go!

3 Things I Love Thursday…

So I tried to do a 10 things I love Tuesday, but it takes me about 3 hours to write it up, and as much as I love writing about the things I love, I think I’ll stick with three on Thursdays:

1. Vintage Typewriters-

Aren’t they cool? After I saw one used as a guest book for a wedding, I have been hopelessly smitten with the idea of finding one of my own. I think it would be fun to bring out at a party, or to play around with at home. Luckily I found an awesome retro styled one at the Antique Faire on Sunday for $10…I can see a lot of projects happening in the future!

2. Pastels- Such great colors for spring! Especially since Easter is around the corner. I love the subdued lightness, so airy and fresh. Try it, I’m sure you will feel the same.

Easy as ABC

3. Skinny ties- I am swooning over the urban skinny tie look for guys…It is so hot. I just bought a few for my boyfriend and he looks so good in them.  Guys take note, skinny ties is where it’s at… and you’re guaranteed to look like a million bucks.

I think it also might be fun for us fashionistas to try and pull off the skinny tie look, playing on masculine and feminine could be really fun!

street style

I’m sure you will see more of these in the future, because the 10 things is just a little too ambitious for me. I just realized that tomorrow is Friday… Yippee! Wait, where did the week go? Well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. I’m just happy it’s almost the weekend, and I’m sure you are too. Check ya on the flip side…

Photo Phrenzy Friday…

Some old photos and some new, here is a look at my life through my trusty iPhone camera.

Hope you enjoy!

Do you use the Hipstamatic app? I absolutely LOVE it, and as you can see I use it ummm quite frequently. I love how they recreated an old camera. My favorite is the sound it makes when you turn on the flash, perfect imitation of a disposable camera…. Gah, SO genius! And it never seems to gets old.

I don’t know about you, but I have big plans for the weekend, the boyfriend and I are headed up to my hometown of Truckee, Ca for some snowboarding and family time. Should be fun! Can’t wait to get some nice tasty turns in.

Have a spectacular weekend!

All In the Name of Sunshine.

Holy Crap, it was gorgeous out today! I was peeling off the layers, and it was the first time all winter that we left the heater off all night. Has Spring sprung here in Sac Town? Or is this just a momentary excitement from mother nature…Telling us that even though we never think old man Winter will go away, he always does. But I’m not going to get too excited for warm weather, because it tends to always get cold again…Mother Nature, you are a tease.

Of course I’m not gonna complain. I’m going to let the sunshine soak into my poor little pale body and soak it up as much as I can before it’s gone again. I even had the day off which meant I was hopping along the streets as joyous as can be. I did a bit of spring cleaning and swapped out a few pieces from my wardrobe that weren’t quite “me” for some fresh goodies.

I definitely left with some wonderful items, and since it felt like a hot summer day, my mind was on florals and sun hats. I’m going to save the photos of my goodies for another post, because like mother nature, I too can be a tease. Ha.

But don’t worry, I made sure to wear a nice breezy outfit to catch on film today too. Here is my sunny sailor wear:

(What I’m wearing: Top Solemio from Heart Boutique, Jeans from Forever 21, and red thrifted

mary jane’s from Freestyle Clothing Exchange)

I am in a fantastic mood today, and I know its because all that happiness is radiating off of the sun onto me. Well I will take it! I also am loving that I can take my slightly used clothes down the street to a consignment store and swap em’ out, just like that. I feel quite green… and sunny if I don’t say so myself.

Soak it up while you can people!

PS: A big shout-out and thank you to Nine West for sending me such a nice package for winning their “Vintage America” contest.

10 things i LOVE Tuesday.

I’ve noticed a lot of my favorite blogs do something like this weekly, so why not incorporate it into my blog as well? Hope you enjoy!

1. Candles…

I’ve been buying them up like the world is going to end…but I love the way my flat looks when its all lit with candles galore. So relaxing and comforting, not to mention my house smells amazing! It’s perfect on a rainy night with a boyfriend to cuddle up with…just sayin’.

2. Creamy Neutrals, sheer, and light pink…

Lingering Still

…Or all of these combined. Mmm…loving all the nudes and neutrals. There is just something so organic about it…and of course completely sexy!

Freedom

3. Raindrops…

Sacramento has been getting insane amounts of rain lately, and I don’t know about you…but I am loving it. Not necessarily having to tromp around in it…Well not without my fabulous vintage rain boots of course. I especially love it because I have never really lived in the rain before. I am a true mountain snow girl, but not anymore.

R.A.I.N

I just love the sound of the rain hitting my umbrella, or my window when I’m trying to fall asleep, the smell of the wet pavement and trees, so refreshing and rejuvinating. I just love it!

4. Lace…

It makes me feel so romantic and feminine…How could you not feel beautiful wrapped in lace?

3.1 Phillip Lim Resort 2010

5. Chai Tea…

I am usually quite the coffee drinker. I couldn’t even begin my day without a cup of caffeine in my system. But all that has ended. Coffee has unfortunately been causing immense pain with my IC (Interstitial Cystitis), so I switched to Chai which I make in my espresso machine. Steamed milk goodness…YUM!

6. Vintage Owls…

Vintage owl necklaces to be exact. I have become seriously obsessed with them. I am currently searching for the perfect owl necklace… So if you find one I might like, it would be greatly appreciated if you let me know. hehe…

Happy Birthday Mommy :L

7. Eames Shell Chair…

I am in LOVE with this chair. The boyfriend and I have been dreaming about getting one for a couple years now. We have been scouring antique faire’s, thrift shops, and mid century consignment stores hoping one day we will find one. Until then, I can just dream.

8.  Vintage rain boots…

I just found a fabulous pair. Don’t you just love them? And boy oh boy have they come in useful the past couple weeks!

Healing Rain

9. Hat collection…

I’ve acquired quite the hat collection over the years, and it is time I show them off. I am in the midst of a project to showcase all of my wonderful hats… Here is what I am looking at doing:

10. Blogging…

Yes, It’s true…I love blogging.

Sometimes I feel that it can be more of a job then a fun pastime, and most of the time I wonder why anyone would want to read anything I have to say. I hear crickets…do you hear crickets? Anyway, I am not into blogging for anyone but myself and I’ll leave it at that.

So what are the 10 things you love right now?

Here’s to you.

The Holiday’s always help me to realize how wonderful friends and family are in my life. I am so lucky to be surrounded with such amazing people! One person in particular, has been one of my closest friends for about ten years now. Unfortunately, somehow every year I seem to completely forget her Birthday…which as a bestie, is a huge disappointment. Thankfully, throughout all my forgetfulness, she still stands by my side and loves me for all that I am…the good and the bad.  And that people, is a real and true friend… Which I have also come to realize is very difficult to come by. So if you have a friend like this, I would recommend always holding her/him dear to your heart, especially on his/her birthday. Today’s blog is dedicated to my dear friend K. I hope you have a wonderful Birthday, filled with laughter and love!

If anyone is trying to find the perfect gift for the holidays or a birthday, I have found these wonderful charm necklaces on Etsy, they are available in silver and gold and include your initial as well as your birthstone. Take a look:

Happy Holidays, and Cheers!!!
