Inspired By…

This is a new weekly installment, I’ll be posting magazine clippings of different trends, and show you how I wear them, and how you could easily wear them too!

Inspired by GINGHAM prints:

– Gingham reminds me of the english countryside, and thats where my inspiration from this outfit came from…Can you tell much? ha.

-The man, the myth the legend…I introduce you to my wonderful boyfriend, Ethan. He is pretty much my favorite person ever!

– He appreciates style and is very stylish if I don’t say so myself!

-This is what I wore traipsing around the city with boyfriend. I got a lot of compliments on this outfit too…whoohoo.

-Beautiful Land Park.

-This is love.

(fitted: green Brixton hat, red vintage blazer from Crimson and Clover, vintage plaid dress from dollar sale at Bows and Arrows, rust colored belt and vintage loafers also from Crimson and Clover.

Do you think you could pull it off? I know you could. I love trying out new styles, it makes everything more fun, and you aren’t always falling back on the same old look. Variety is the spice of life! Give it a try.

Things I Love Thursday.

Another weekly installment.

1. Photography:

I recently worked on a photography project, and it was so much fun! It made me realize how much I love taking photos, and how much I miss getting lost in the darkroom for hours. Now, I get lost in Photoshop, but nothing compares to the darkroom. I was looking back through the photos I took in my college classes, and I love them. Figured I might as well show you…

2. The 60’s Era.

I have become fascinated with all things vintage, and love the design, clothing, furniture and architecture from that era.

(The clothing from this era is my personal favorite, such beautifully crafted garments)

(I love the Shell chair. The boyfriend and I are currently on the hunt for one)

(Twiggy, what a 60’s staple she was!)

3. Eichler homes-

Rolling with the 60’s era, I love the design of the Eichler homes, they were very innovative and aesthetically pleasing. My Dad actually lived in one when he was a kid…which makes them even more awesome!

Girl Crush…

It’s true I have a crush. I’ve had one for quite some time, and this one has remained proud and true…my serious obsession with the one and only Zooey Deschanel. But who doesn’t have a crush on that girl? Gahhhhhh…She is just so cute, and so insanely stylish, and not to mention has the sweetest voice, and bluest eyes on the planet. Bageezesus…I just love her. So to show the world my love for Zooey I’ve comprised several photos for you to gawk at in amazement…Enjoy.

…Seriously the cutest girl ever. If you would like to swoon a little longer, watch the you tube video below.

So, who is your girl crush? I know you all have one…might as well just lay it out on the table now.

Feelin’ Dotty…

Oh, Weekends… how I love thee. This past week came and went with a blink of an eye, but I have to say, that’s okay with me! My Friday was pretty phenomenal, the local vintage shop Bows and Arrows is having a moving sale and everything is $5 or less. Crazy right!?! If you have yet to check it out, you better get your booty movin’ and get on over there! I took full advantage of the sale…I’m definitely a sucker for a good sale, and ended up getting a ton of stuff. Basically I have a whole new spring wardrobe for about 25 bones. I know, I am excited too! I went home with 6 dresses and 3 skirts, and I can’t wait to start showing you all of my fab finds.

I was in quite a good mood today, and decided to show it off with my current favorite print, polka dots. I have acquired quite a few, and now I am officially on a hold from purchasing another one. I just love them though! Here is what I wore:

( I love this photo, especially because my cat Neela always finds a way to sneak into the photo. She likes her picture taken too!)

(Being my silly little self)

(This dress is actually Navy blue, but you would never know because the photos make it look black)

(And I do a little turn on the catwalk)

(Fitted with- Straw hat and vintage polka dot dress from Freestyle, Crimson and Clover vintage belt, Tights from Target, and Mary Jane pumps from my very favorite shop, The Nest)

I think it’s time for a weekend adventure…What do you say? Let’s find one.

3 Things I Love Thursday…

So I tried to do a 10 things I love Tuesday, but it takes me about 3 hours to write it up, and as much as I love writing about the things I love, I think I’ll stick with three on Thursdays:

1. Vintage Typewriters-

Aren’t they cool? After I saw one used as a guest book for a wedding, I have been hopelessly smitten with the idea of finding one of my own. I think it would be fun to bring out at a party, or to play around with at home. Luckily I found an awesome retro styled one at the Antique Faire on Sunday for $10…I can see a lot of projects happening in the future!

2. Pastels- Such great colors for spring! Especially since Easter is around the corner. I love the subdued lightness, so airy and fresh. Try it, I’m sure you will feel the same.

Easy as ABC

3. Skinny ties- I am swooning over the urban skinny tie look for guys…It is so hot. I just bought a few for my boyfriend and he looks so good in them.  Guys take note, skinny ties is where it’s at… and you’re guaranteed to look like a million bucks.

I think it also might be fun for us fashionistas to try and pull off the skinny tie look, playing on masculine and feminine could be really fun!

street style

I’m sure you will see more of these in the future, because the 10 things is just a little too ambitious for me. I just realized that tomorrow is Friday… Yippee! Wait, where did the week go? Well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. I’m just happy it’s almost the weekend, and I’m sure you are too. Check ya on the flip side…

My New Ride…

This past Sunday was the Antique Faire, and I make sure never to miss it. There are always fabulous treasures to be found. Sure, you have to dig and sift through everything, and there is a lot of crap, but it’s when you find that one special thing that makes it all worth it.

For me, that one special thing is a vintage bike. I have been pining for one since we moved to Sacramento. My boyfriend recently mentioned he wanted to buy me a new bike, so I have been looking here and there at what I might like. I am in LOVE with the Public bikes. DWR (Design Within Reach) founder Rob Forbes started the company and they are beyond awesome, here is a look at my favorite one:

Super sweet right? Well, somehow the universe aligned perfectly for me on Sunday, and I found the most purrrrfect bike. I noticed it immediately, but figured it was WAY out of our price range. Fortunately we got there when everyone was closing up shop, so the bike was marked to sell at $175. The frame is exactly like the one pictured above except a vintage french version. My boyfriend got the bike down to $150, and we were sold! Take a look at my fabulous new ride…

(Vintage Gitane frame)

( Ethan took the old handlebars off, and sawed off part of my beach cruisers to make these bad boys..what do ya’ think?)

(All new parts. New tires, brakes, chain, cables, and a new beautiful paint job)

( The guy we bought it from did a lot of work to it, including the awesome paint job…I love that color, so unique!)

So, what do you think of the new fresh ride? I am in LOVE! It is exactly what I was looking for, and I am very excited to ride it all over town. It’s awesome that Sacramento is such a bike friendly city. I see people riding to work and school all the time, it makes me happy to know that we are keeping our cars in the garage and helping the environment, even if it is one pedal at a time. Stay green!

All In the Name of Sunshine.

Holy Crap, it was gorgeous out today! I was peeling off the layers, and it was the first time all winter that we left the heater off all night. Has Spring sprung here in Sac Town? Or is this just a momentary excitement from mother nature…Telling us that even though we never think old man Winter will go away, he always does. But I’m not going to get too excited for warm weather, because it tends to always get cold again…Mother Nature, you are a tease.

Of course I’m not gonna complain. I’m going to let the sunshine soak into my poor little pale body and soak it up as much as I can before it’s gone again. I even had the day off which meant I was hopping along the streets as joyous as can be. I did a bit of spring cleaning and swapped out a few pieces from my wardrobe that weren’t quite “me” for some fresh goodies.

I definitely left with some wonderful items, and since it felt like a hot summer day, my mind was on florals and sun hats. I’m going to save the photos of my goodies for another post, because like mother nature, I too can be a tease. Ha.

But don’t worry, I made sure to wear a nice breezy outfit to catch on film today too. Here is my sunny sailor wear:

(What I’m wearing: Top Solemio from Heart Boutique, Jeans from Forever 21, and red thrifted

mary jane’s from Freestyle Clothing Exchange)

I am in a fantastic mood today, and I know its because all that happiness is radiating off of the sun onto me. Well I will take it! I also am loving that I can take my slightly used clothes down the street to a consignment store and swap em’ out, just like that. I feel quite green… and sunny if I don’t say so myself.

Soak it up while you can people!
